<Girls Wanna Code/> is a special Flipkart initiative that started in 2018 with the sole objective of championing women's tech talent and providing them an opportunity to work with the best tech minds working passionately towards solving for a billion Indian dreams. Having served budding women engineers across 6 splendid seasons, GWC is now back with a new edition.

Akin to Girls Wanna Code, many of you would also remember Flipkart Runway, our Early Career program for women engineers, designed to fast-track their journey towards a thriving tech career. To provide a seamless experience that caters to the entire Women in Tech community, we have retained the goodness of the two constructs, and resultantly, are pleased to confirm the launch of a rejuvenated & unified GWC program.

Presenting Flipkart <Girls Wanna Code/> - Code your own runway!

Flipkart Girls Wanna Code 7.0 is a unique upskilling program designed with the purpose of making our tech ecosystem more fairly inclusive and represented. It is strategically designed to establish a solid groundwork for women in engineering, offering them early exposure to developmental opportunities. Through engagement with challenging real-time problem statements, mentoring, and networking opportunities, participants will gain invaluable experience.

The chosen engineers will not only secure an internship opportunity for 2026, but also stand a chance to secure a Pre-Placement Interview (PPI) for an internship with Flipkart.

The program invites applications from women students across PAN India Engineering colleges, and across multiple streams, degrees and specialisations.

Contest Details

Eligibility:

• Women engineers from all Tech Colleges across India
• Degrees of B.Tech, B.E., M.S., and Dual or integrated degrees
• Batch of 2028

Program Registration:

Individuals will be required to register as solo participants. The same should be done within the mentioned deadline, ensuring that only accurate data is being submitted. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification.

Tracks & Roles:

Based on the performance throughout the program, the candidates will be shortlisted for Internship opportunities for Software Development Engineer-1 (SDE-1) roles at Flipkart.

Program Construct:

All registered participants will be subjected to screening based on academic criteria, followed by a coding assessment for the first round of elimination. The shortlisted candidates - our Scholar Cohort, will be shared a detailed plan of 4 learning modules - consisting of a combination of self-paced learning assignments and facilitated sessions with Industry Experts from Flipkart who will help you learn via real-life problem statements. The top 200 will also be assigned a mentor, for query resolution and other assignments, that will help you truly upskill and understand the nuances.

The top performers will get a sponsored invite to visit our Flipkart Headquarters in Bengaluru for a networking event with fellow GWCians from across the country and Flipkart Leaders.

For the entire cohort, post one final assessment, we will be offering the interview process opportunity for the SDE-1 Internship. The same shall be conducted in a virtual set-up.

Key Milestones

Flipkart GWC 7.0 - Program Stages

Flipkart GWC 7.0 will move across 4 key stages, designed to give the participants a flavour of relevant and interesting learning experiences.

• Stage 1:  Screening

The registered candidates will undergo a screening process based on their academic performance and consistency, along with due consideration given to non-academic achievements and other accolades. The shortlisted candidates will then proceed to the next stage.

• Stage 2:  Coding Assessment

The shortlisted candidates will then appear for a proctored coding assessment that will consist of 3 questions to be attempted in 90 minutes, covering languages like Golang, Java, C, C++. The scores will be calculated based on the clearance of test cases for these questions, and the ones which are equal to or higher than the cutoff score will move to the stage.

• Stage 3:  Learning Cohort

The shortlisted candidates will form our Scholar Cohort - this cohort will undergo a virtual series of specially designed Flipkart-led Learning Sessions, along with 1:1 Mentorship opportunities with Flipsters for the top performers, that empowers every individual towards kickstarting their career in Tech.

• Stage 4:  Networking Event

The top performers will then be invited to the Flipkart Headquarters in Bengaluru for a full-day networking event with Flipkart Leadership and Mentors, celebrating their journey so far.

• Stage 5:  Hiring Drive

A Final Assessment will be conducted, which, once cleared, will allow the candidates to go through the virtual hiring process for Internship offers. The details of the process will be shared at a later stage for the relevant participants, via their respective placecom departments.
