OPSiB is building retail operations intelligence software to help multi-store retailers detect operational exceptions, coordinate on-floor tasks, and reduce preventable losses.

We are looking for a motivated Backend & Data Integration Intern to help turn our existing product prototype into a working MVP for a real-world pilot across up to 5 retail stores.

What you'll work on

• Build backend APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Design and manage database schemas using PostgreSQL.
• Develop data ingestion pipelines for CSV/Excel files, including field mapping, validation and large-data processing.
• Build rule-based exception detection from retail operational data.
• Develop integration foundations for POS, ERP and WMS systems.
• Implement background jobs, error handling and data processing workflows.
• Use AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development while ensuring code quality, testing and reliability.

Required skills

• Python and basic backend development.
• SQL and PostgreSQL fundamentals.
• REST APIs and JSON.
• Data processing using Pandas or similar tools.
• Git/GitHub and debugging skills.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code or Codex.

Good to have: FastAPI, cloud deployment, asynchronous processing, API integrations or experience handling large datasets.
